full moon

by Shannondoah

the fullness
   of the moon
gifts us
   the important
choice
   to become empty
the fullness
   of the moon
allows us
   if we choose
to spill
   our cups
in celebration
   of the unknown epic-ness
that will fill
   us again
the fullness
   of the moon
frees us
   clean and
clear, and while
   letting go
we open
   all our hearts
windows,
   and all our hearts
doors

the fullness
   of the moon
invites us
   to breathe in
the infinite galaxy
   of all our
potential skies

wind

by Pablo Neruda
‘Wind on the Island’

The wind is a horse:
hear how he runs
through the sea, through the sky.

He wants to take me: listen
how he roves the world
to take me far away.

Hide me in your arms
just for this night,
while the rain breaks
against sea and earth
its innumerable mouth.

Listen how the wind
calls to me galloping
to take me far away.

With your brow on my brow,
with your mouth on my mouth,
our bodies tied
to the love that consumes us,
let the wind pass
and not take me away.

Let the wind rush
crowned with foam,
let it call to me and seek me
galloping in the shadow,
while I, sunk
beneath your big eyes,
just for this night
shall rest, my love.

the edge

by Shannondoah

on the edge
    of despair
i choose to
    meet my
relentless faith
    that days like
today
    are not my
defining realities
    i believe
love does
    conquer all
i refuse to
    lose hope
in the face
    of cold,harsh
adversity
    times like these
are not the ends
    they are the beginnings
to happy endings
    amidst
sad stories
    times like these
i choose to rise
    higher
and to soar
    like eagle
above
    and beyond
all these challenges
    as we turn
the pages of
    life
we emerge
    into our greatness
honoring
    our destinies
our missions
    of truth

this love

by Shannondoah

this love

i could fly
with
forever

like
luminescent
fairy dust

moon songs
raising me
to
the highest
heights

shattering
each and every
karmic glass ceiling

this love

shines the brightest
light
on the darkest
day

this love

parts every cloud
and clears
all the rain

this love

endures
the
toughest storm

and this love

radiates
pure joy

like a wild hummingbird

together
or apart

our love
this love

frees us
lifts us
brightens us
infinitely
enlightens us

flowersong

Hafiz
Persia (Iran)

How
did the rose
ever open its heart
and give to this world all of its beauty?
It felt the encouragement of light against its being,
otherwise we all remain too
frightened.

compass

by Shannondoah

moonrise
starshine
the longest ride

there is a
compass
in our hearts

that can navigate
through the
thickest fog

guide us
on the darkest
night

this everlasting
compass of ours

leads us
through the most
tangled forest

up and over
all the tallest
mountains

my center
our hearts
your center
our hearts

in this compass
i do
believe.

Metaphysical Meditations

Reveal Thyself

Divine Beloved, make me know at once
and forever, that Thou hast always been
mine, ever mine. My error-dreams are past,
buried in the sepulcher of oblivion. I am
awake, basking in the sunlight of life in
Thee.

glory

by Shannondoah

as the ink
flows
from this
blue pen
all
i can do
is
pray
and infuse
these words
with
the
truth
that my heart
feels
and my spirit
knows
which tells
the
stories
before there
was time
and
before we
became
separate
trusting in our
reunion
and
trusting that truly
the time returns
and this
time
we make it
and this
time
we
return to
each other
and
finally
love is
triumphant
in
its holy
glory

drumsound

Drumsound rises on the air,
    its throb, my heart.

  A voice inside the beat
says, “I know you’re tired
but come. This is the way.”

remembering

by Shannondoah

Beloved
of
the Beloveds

My Love,
truth
beloved.

Never too far
away.

Ancient Fire
Song of Songs
Heart of Hearts

divine union.

Love can see
the vast horizons
of our lives

Love can see
through us
to ourselves

Love can see
us together
forever

Never too far
away.

We are the mountains climbed
We are the hills kissed by the wind
We are the seas caressed by the clouds
We are the sun loved by the moon

We are the stars remembering.

ashes

by HAFIZ
Persia (Iran)

Love is
the funeral pyre
where I have laid my living body.

All the false notions of myself
that once caused fear, pain,
have turned to ash
as I neared God.

What has risen
from the tangled web of thought and sinew
now shines with jubilation
through the eyes of angels
and screams from the guts of
Infinite existence
itself.

Love is the funeral pyre
where the heart must lay
its body.

breath

by Shannondoah

“O Romeo, Romeo!
Wherefore art thou
Romeo?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name.
Or if though wilt not,
be but sworn my love...”

breath from my
heart,
synchronized
we are never
apart

love feast
celebrating
all that is
all that was
and all
that
shall ever
be

look up
into the sky
see me
hear my cry
across the seas
past the winds
and soaring beyond
all
ancient
trees

crossing lands
from afar
i am
right here wishing
for you
upon a star
my love, my love
o shining one
sing unto my heart
sing unto my soul
sing unto heaven
we are one,
we are whole.

lotus

by SUN BU-ER
China

 Cut brambles long enough,
    sprout after sprout,
  and the lotus will bloom
    of its own accord:
Already waiting in the clearing,
   the single image of light.
     The day you see this,
that day you will become it.

night

by Shannondoah

lighthouse

when
there is
darkness
we
must
summon our
faith
and
shine it out
like a
lighthouse
beaming
trust

even when it
is the
darkest hour
we must
choose
love
and
forgive
everything.

autumn fires

by Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894)
Autumn Fires

   In the other gardens
   And all up the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
   See the smoke trail!

   Pleasant summer over
And all the summer flowers,
   The red fire blazes,
  The grey smoke towers.

   Sing a song of seasons!
  Something bright in all!
   Flowers in the summer,
     Fires in the fall!

si gi ni ge yu

by Shannondoah

si gi ni ge yu
we love each other

the night
is
the Great Womb
of our
Mother, our
Grandmothers
whom
welcome us home
each
evening
comforting us
with their divine
feminine
starlight
shawl
they are singing
us home
to ourselves
to each other
to our center
to the oneness.

october

by William Morris 1834-1896
From The Earthly Paradise

October

O Love, turn from the unchanging sea, and gaze
Down these grey slopes upon the year grown old,
   A-dying mid the autumn-scented haze,
That hangeth o’er the hollow in the wold,
Where the wind-bitten ancient elms enfold
Grey church, long barn, orchard, and red-roofed stead,
Wrought in dead days for men a long while dead.

Come down, O Love; may not our hands still meet,
Since still we live today, forgetting June,
   Forgetting May, deeming October sweet-
-O hearken, hearken! through the afternoon,
The grey tower sings a strange old tinkling tune!
Sweet, sweet, and sad, the toiling year’s last breath,
To satiate of life to strive with death.

And we too- will it not be soft and kind,
 That rest from life, from patience and from pain;
  That rest from bliss we know not when we find;
That rest from Love which ne’er the end can gain?-
Hark, how the tune swells, that erewhile did wane!
Look up, love!- ah, cling close and never move!
How can I have enough of life and love?

le temps revient

by Shannondoah

and love
true love
hears everything
knows all
sings out halos
heavenly
sounds
amidst
night moons
and
starlight
swoons
destiny strings
upon my
heart

epic

by Shannonondoah

epic

patience
     finds me
alone at night
gazing
  at the one
big thing called
  the night
sky

seemingly infinite
forever glowing
luminescence
wild
vastness

wondering,
can you see me
heart full and open
finally ready
for
the greatest
love

epic, like the
ocean, like the
sun, like the
oneness
that is
our
truth
